10月30日 TechEd 2007 to take place in OrlandoIt’s official: TechEd 2007 will take place at the Orange County Convention Center, the same place as 2005. It seems that New Orleans didn’t quite recover from Katrina yet.

It’s a good opportunity to take the family along. I did it in 2005 and my kids had a great time. 10月24日 On car fuel economyI watched recently a documentary called “Who killed the Electric car”. They claim that General Motors designed this workable electric car technology only to dump it later, at the cost of more than a billion dollars plus the lost opportunity of being the electric car leader. The documentary fells a lot like “Taken for a Ride”, on how street car companies were bought by a consortium of General Motors, Firestone and Standard Oil and then scrapped in favor of freeways, automobiles and buses (check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_streetcar_conspiracy).
The only thing missing from “Who killed the Electric car” is the punch line: General Motors did benefit from the shutdown of tram companies all over the United States. In the case of the electric car, it seems that Toyota got the better deal.
I just read on CNN that the most economic cars are made by Toyota: http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/10/17/fuel_economy_guide/index.html. There are a couple of Hondas, and some Fords Hybrids made with licensed Toyota technology.
General Motors is in dire straits as we all know. Even well-thought conspiracies can go terribly wrong. |
